Our story

A foundation born out of necessity and from personal experience

We are Urban Rise, a dynamic financial literacy organisation that has emerged in response to the urgent need for financial education amongst young people in the UK. Our mission is to empower individuals in inner-city communities with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate the complexities of personal finance.

With a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban populations, Urban Rise strives to bridge the gap between financial literacy and real-life application. We believe that everyone deserves access to the tools necessary for long-term financial success, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status.

At Urban Rise, we offer comprehensive educational programs designed to equip individuals with practical skills in budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. Through engaging workshops, interactive resources, and personalised coaching, we aim to instil a strong foundation of financial literacy that will serve as a stepping stone towards economic empowerment.

Our founder

The man behind Urban Rise

Urban Rise was founded by Abdirahman Ahmed, a Business Management graduate from the University of Greenwich. Having grown up in a low socioeconomic area and household, money was often a taboo topic and something often not talked about. This led him to developing bad spending habits and not learning the basic skill of managing money, a theme all to common in many of London’s deprived boroughs.

He set up Urban Rise with the aim of tackling poverty through education and addressing material deprivation in inner-city London, so that young people can avoid the pitfalls and challenges he experienced.
